Star Antigua Competition Launches
The newest addition to the Independence program has taken flight.  Star Antigua was officially launched last Friday in a cocktail ceremony held at the House of Culture.  

Minister of Culture, Hon. Eleston Adams was on hand for the ceremony and congratulated all the contestants on making history in Antigua by being the first group of participants to participate in this event, which he said in time to come will be one of the biggest events on the Independence calendar.

The Member of Parliament for St. Paul’s said an event of a similar nature was held during the St. Paul’s Cultural Festival and when he evaluated the show he felt it had great opportunity for national advancement.  

The contestants will compete in either of three categories, namely song, dance and drama.  
At the end of that round, the top contestant from each discipline will commence a new round of competition, but will not be allowed to change their original discipline.  One winner will then be chosen from the top three.

Coordinator of the event, Ckhuerckh Vhann-Kellte made the way clear for the fifteen contestants to introduce themselves to the attendees and media persons that were on hand.  They announced themselves as: Alvin Livingstone, Felicia Martin, Dorlyn Carr, Flora Haywood and Nigel James in the singing category.

The competitors in the Dance Category are: Jovan December, Shanice Sebastian, Karina Alexander, Karen Brooks and Shanika Anthony.

The contestants for the Drama Category are: Kimolee McFarlene, Deslyn Thomas, Malique Marsh, Terry- Anne Pryce and Tiffany Lake.

Vhann-Kellte said plans are now in the final stages and patrons can expect a show of a high standard and he has no doubt that the contestants will put on a great show thus paving the way for more even better show next year.

The Star Antigua show will be held at the House of Culture on Friday 24th October and commence at 8:00 PM.  Admission is $20.
