Jubilation Gospel Festival
Apart from merry-making and the display of patriotism during the Independence Homecoming Festival, Government has also incorporated a thanksgiving aspect. The Jubilation Gospel concert has taken root and offers both Christians and non-Christians an opportunity to give thanks during the Independence celebration. Chairman of Jubilation V William Dorset says the event is the brainchild of Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer who wanted to incorporate a reverent aspect to the annual celebration. Dorset says to date the event has a good track record as it has been attracting large turn-outs, and the committee has been producing high class concerts, which has constantly receive favourable reports from members of the public. With only 13 days until the Gospel festival, Dorset says the public can expect a great line-up of local, regional and international artistes and that preparations are progressing smoothly. The line-up includes international Gospel recording artistes Tye Tribbet and Judy Jacobs of the United States of America. Also forming part of the act are Christafari, & Solomon Jabby, Monty G, Mr. Lynx and Jason Mighty, all of whom are from the Caribbean region. The Jubilation V chairman says the concert, under the theme, “Divine Grace”, caters to both the mature and young audiences and is an opportunity for the whole family to be spiritually uplifted. Apart from just praising God, Dorset says the show has also helped local artistes improve their performances. He added that more local artistes will get the opportunity to showcase their talent on the Tuesday 28th October prior to the main concert ton Sunday 2nd November.
